The question of “what should Democrats learn from 2024?” has been on the minds of many this past week.
In Part III of Mythbusting Before the Midterms, Jim Messina, CEO of The Messina Group, looks at four myths that helped undermined Democrats during the 2024 presidential election cycle, and how we need to challenge these assumptions in advance of the midterms and the 2028 presidential primaries.
The Takeaway: Supposed “built-in advantages” only take you so far. The campaigns that win are the ones that outwork, out-organize, and out-think their opponents. Democrats don’t need to be lucky in 2026. We need to be disciplined. And if we want to retake the White House in 2028, we need to stop re-litigating the last election and do the work.
