In addition to its headquarters in Washington, D.C. and offices in London, TMG’s new base in San Francisco will lead a growing portfolio of technology & start-up clients in Silicon Valley. JANUARY 17, 2018: Washington, D.C.Jim Messina, known internationally for his outstanding political work and the mastermind behind President Obama’s successful 2012 Presidential campaign, announced today that The Messina Group has opened an office in San Francisco and merged with Greenbrier, a prominent Silicon Valley public relations firm. The office will cater to its rapidly growing base of clients in Silicon Valley and oversee the company’s roster of start-ups, technology firms, and innovators of industry while continuing to see growth & retain top talent in its Washington, D.C., and London offices.

Greenbrier has expertise in crisis management and prediction, narrative development, and public affairs and is led by Matt McKenna and Lane Kasselman. Matt spent nearly a decade advising President Bill Clinton and the Clinton family and has experience working with a wide range of companies, philanthropies, and NGOs. Lane has spent two decades consulting on public policy, crisis strategy, and communications for start-ups, celebrities, and political campaigns. Greenbrier will be known as Greenbrier, a Messina Group company.

As part of the expansion, Messina announced two key promotions: Tara Corrigan to serve as Chief Operating Officer and head of TMG’s flagship office, and Mark Medish to serve as President.

With more than a decade of experience in politics domestically and abroad, Tara has led political campaigns for TMG in six countries, including David Cameron’s successful 2015 UK general election campaign. Tara joined the firm after multiple roles in the White House during President Obama’s Administration and the 2008 & 2012 Presidential campaigns.

Mark joined TMG in 2015 and brings more than 25 years of diverse experience in policy, law, and finance to advise the firm’s clients on complex, geo-political and cross-border challenges. Previously, Mark held a number of government posts including: special assistant to President Clinton and senior director on the National Security Council; U.S. Treasury deputy assistant secretary for international affairs under Robert Rubin and Lawrence Summers, and he has also held various positions at USAID and UNDP.

Messina also announced additional key promotions to support the company’s growth. They include:

Seth Samuels, promoted to Chief Analytics Officer. Seth joined TMG after serving as a Senior Analytics Consultant at Benenson Strategy Group. Prior to that, Seth was a Survey Scientist at Civis Analytics, working to integrate time-tested research methods with rapidly developing technological tools. During the 2012 Presidential Election, Seth worked on internal polling and analytics for President Obama’s campaign.

Isabelle Wright, promoted to Digital Director. During her time at TMG, Isabelle has run digital strategy on behalf of our international political clients, including the reelection campaigns for Prime Minister David Cameron and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. Previously Isabelle worked on digital marketing at No Such Agency in Los Angeles, where she oversaw the organization’s digital advertising efforts.
