Brennan Bilberry joined The Messina Group after running communications strategy for leading political campaigns and organizations across the US. At The Messina Group, he has advised governments and political parties in five continents as well as Fortune 100 corporations and leading global NGOs.
Before joining The Messina Group Bilberry most recently served as Communications Director for Terry McAuliffe’s successful campaign for Virginia governor, overturning a 40-year electoral precedent. Citing the strategy Bilberry developed, the Washington Post wrote, “McAuliffe’s message discipline – perhaps more than any other factor – is why he will be the next governor of the Commonwealth.”
In the 2012 presidential election, Bilberry was Deputy Executive Director of Priorities USA Action, the pro-Obama Super PAC, directly responsible for developing the messages credited with undermining Mitt Romney’s business record in battleground states. The Los Angeles Times wrote, “Priorities is credited by strategists on both sides with some of the most searing ads – spots that portrayed Romney as a wealthy, job-killing plutocrat.”
Prior to that, he worked for two election cycles in communications and research at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, served as Communications Director on multiple US congressional campaigns, and conducted research for several US Senate and House campaigns.
He graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Government.
